Featured above is a normally open pyrovalve currently used on the Atlas launch vehicle prelaunch cool down sequence. This valve is capable of operating at -350° while flowing liquid nitrogen or liquid helium.
This valve has been fully qualified. In addition, the cartridge assembly meets all requirements of specification DOD-E-83578A.
This valve requires very strict cleaning procedures and exhibits no combustion gas blow-by or contamination.
