Featured above is a redundant, normally closed pyrovalve currently used in the Helium Pressurization System on the Atlas launch vehicle.

The valve assembly is comprised of five major components: cartridge assemblies (2), trigger assemblies (2) and the ported normally-closed body. Upon initiation of the cartridge assembly, a piston within the trigger section is driven downward ultimately puncturing a metal diaphragm to release high pressure helium gas.

This valve assembly exhibits no combustion gas blow-by, is compatible with NASA Standard Initiators and is fully qualified.

Additional information concerning this valve is available upon request.
