Featured above is a three way pyrovalve currently used in the redundant attitude control system of the Delta II launch vehicle.

This "combination" valve has a prefire position of normally closed/normally open. Upon initiation an internal ram is driven forward and the valve positions are reversed to normally open/normally closed.

This valve and initiator are fully qualified. In addition, the initiator meets all requirements of DOD-E-83578A.
