Lightweight normally closed pyrovalves are critical to the success of spacecraft, missiles and undersea weapons systems. Conax pioneered high reliability pyrovalves over 40 years ago and today supports programs such as Atlas/Centaur, Titan/Centaur, Delta II, as well as many satellites.

The featured normally closed valve is one of many high pressure, lightweight valves produced by Conax. The valve is compatible with NASA Standard Initiators and is fully flight qualified.

Upon receipt of the firing current, the initiator ignites a booster charge located within the valve body. The booster output then drives an interference fit ram downward removing and capturing a parent metal closure in the flow path. This valve exhibits no combustion gas blow-by.
