Safety and Survival

Many of the world's greatest technologies have sprung from the quest to maintain human life, while exploring environments incapable of supporting it.  Space travel, undersea exploration, even everyday travel and leisure activities, employ technology to keep our fragile bodies within its finite limits of temperature, pressure, nutrition and acceleration. Cobham, thanks to the ingenuity of its employees, and with continued emphasis on research, has played a major role in developing safety and survival systems for land,sea,air,and space. 

In the early 1980's we gained new prominence by helping to dramatically improve the survival rate of US Navy aircrew by designing a compressed gas system that triggered on immersion in seawater.  Today, all US Air force, Navy, and Marine aircrew use Cobham's life preserver auto-inflation devices.
