JOINT WATER ACTIVATED RELEASE SYSTEM (JWARS)
If aircrew members are unconscious or injured, they cannot manually disconnect their parachutes. Aircrew may become entangled in the shroud lines and drown. The parachute may act as a sail, dragging the aircrew member across the water or fill with water and become a sea anchor, pulling the crew member under. Survival depends upon fast separation from the parachute. Water activated parachute releases save lives.
- Completely symmetrical and interchangeable between left and right risers.
- Stand-alone system, integrating manual function may be operated even after water activated release.
- Will integrate with weapon systems’ parachutes and harness assemblies.
- Requires no special tools for installation.
- Self-contained unit requiring minimal preventative maintenance other than time-change items.
- Replaceable Electronic Package Assembly (EPA) reduces overall system life-cycle costs.
- Recommended service life of 6 years and a shelf life of 9 years.
