Cobham makes several lines of water-activated products from parachute canopy releases (such as SeaWARS, UWARS and JWARS) to automatic inflation devices (FLU-8, FLU-9, FLU-12) to vacuumed-packed life rafts that may be custom configured. Intelligent electronic water sensors operate automatically upon immersion in seawater and will not inadvertently actuate due to rain, fog, humidity or electromagnetic interference (HERO).

 

Other sea-water activated products include the Cartridge Actuated Cutter, which provides an air passage for an incapacitated or injured crew member who resurfaces after being submerged in water. The Water Activated Mask Release (WAMR) releases the oxygen mask from a flight helmet upon an ejected aircrew member’s immersion in seawater.
